Clothing Measurements - Sizes Guide

At Corporate Direct, we go to great lengths to provide accurate sizing information for each supplier’s products. However, we cannot accept responsibility for incorrect size selections made when ordering online.

To ensure the best possible fit, we highly recommend reviewing the size guides provided directly by our suppliers. You can find more detailed information on their respective websites:

IMPORTANT: Always Check Garment Measurements Carefully

Please do not rely on your usual size alone, as sizing can vary significantly between different brands and manufacturers.

What is the “Half-Chest” or “Across-Chest” Measurement?

The half-chest measurement refers to the width of the garment when laid flat — not the measurement of your body.
To measure:

  1. Lay the garment flat on a hard surface.

  2. Measure from one side seam to the other, just below the armpits (around 1 cm beneath the sleeve join).

  3. Double this number to estimate the chest size the garment is intended to fit.

  4.

For example, a garment measuring 50 cm across the chest will have a total chest circumference of 100 cm and would fit snugly on someone with a 100 cm chest.
For a more relaxed fit, choose a garment with a slightly larger measurement.

Please note: We aim for accuracy, but a 1–3% variance may occur.

Shrinkage Allowance for Cotton Garments

  • Pre-shrunk cotton-rich garments: Allow for 1–4% additional shrinkage.

  • 100% cotton or non-pre-shrunk cotton-rich garments: Allow for 5–7% shrinkage.

This is particularly important for children's clothing, where growth and washing frequency can affect sizing. Always follow the garment's care instructions to minimize shrinkage.

Understanding Sizing Differences Across Brands

Sizing standards vary between manufacturers and regions. For example:

  • AU (Australian) sizes are typically used as a general baseline.

  • EU sizing often runs smaller.

  • US women’s sizes can differ significantly from other systems.

  • Department store sizes tend to be more generous, while designer labels often run small.

Some garments are sized by age, years, or chest measurements. Always refer to the individual product detail page for the most accurate sizing.
